Recycling chutes

Located above the chute load door on each level will be 3 colour-coded buttons relating to each waste type and a light labelled "Chute In Use".

Option 1
Purple
= Paper and Cardboard
Green = Glass and Metals
Blue = General Waste

Option 2
Green
= Recycled Waste (2 bin deposit)
Blue = General Waste

Residents will be required to separate their rubbish into the different waste types, If they do not wish to do so they can deposit all their waste as "general waste" (there is an annotation on the chute door legend plate clearly stating this).

Chute doors are normally locked. When the resident pushes the button relating to the waste type they are depositing the chute door will immediately unlock and the "Chute In Use" light will illuminate on all other levels. The resident will then be able to deposit the rubbish in the standard way. The hopper door is counterweighted so it automatically closes after use. Once the hopper door is closed the system resets itself and is instantly ready for use.

In the bin room there will be 3 different containers conforming to local collection criteria (or 2
containers and a compactor for general waste). These containers will be positioned below an actuating discharge that will ensure that waste is dispatched into the appropriate container. This system can also be used in conjunction with a compactor system.
